Dialogue with what remains, in order to “experience a presence”.
This photographic series speaks or rather wants to respond to the attitude of a stranger named Locke, who ran away from any kind of contact and dialogue.
He was my neighbour in a residence in Los Angeles in 2016 and used to lock himself in his room as if he kept a secret; until the day he left, I silently visited his space.
He took everything out of him. All the objects in the room were in their place as if he had never been there.
Only one gesture particularly struck me. The moving of this chair that had been scrupulously kept in his room, on which he spent his hours every day.
I interpreted this gesture as him finally wanting to show what he had always kept hidden.
I accepted this chair as a sacred object that had sustained and welcomed him.
So I began a dialogue with this chair through self-takes, a ‘dialogue with absence’.

Dialogando con ciò che rimane, per poter “vivere una presenza”.
Questa serie fotografica parla o meglio vuole rispondere all’atteggiamento di uno sconosciuto di nome Locke, che fuggiva da ogni tipo di contatto e di dialogo.
Era il mio vicino di stanza in una residenza a Los Angeles nel 2016 e usava chiudersi nella sua stanza come se custodisse un segreto; finché il giorno che se ne andò, visitai silenziosamente i suoi spazi.
Portò via tutto di lui. Tutti gli oggetti della stanza erano al loro posto come se lui non ci fosse mai stato.
Solo un gesto mi colpì particolarmente. Lo spostamento di questa sedia che era stata custodita scrupolosamente nella sua stanza, su cui ogni giorno trascorreva le sue ore.
Interpretai questo suo gesto come un voler finalmente mostrare ciò che aveva sempre tenuto nascosto.
Accolsi questa sedia come un oggetto sacro che lo aveva sostenuto e accolto.
Così iniziai un dialogo con questa sedia attraverso degli autoscatti, un “dialogo con l’assenza”.
